How to use Gemini Immersive Explorations
Immersive Explorations is Gemini's library of ready-made interactive topics that you explore layer by layer. This video filters the library to How Things Work and opens Inside Of A Jet Engine. It clicks the Combustion Chamber hotspot to zoom into the next layer, goes one level deeper to the Combustor Liner, then uses the breadcrumb trail to step back to the full engine. Next it uses Select and ask to draw a box around the combustion chamber and asks Gemini "Why does this part get so hot?" It finishes back in the library, showing the category tabs (History, Nature, Space, How Things Work, Human Body) and the finer labels on each card, like Spaceflight and Medicine. You can't create custom topics in Gemini Immersive yet; the library offers ready-made ones only.

0:00This is Gemini's Immersive Explorations library, a collection of ready-made interactive topics you can step inside and explore layer by layer.
0:10Each card is a topic, from Earth's water cycle to spacecraft re-entry. Let's filter to How Things Work to find the jet engine.
0:19There it is, under Engineering. Open Inside Of A Jet Engine to step inside. You land on a cutaway of the whole engine. This panel gives a quick overview, and each labeled hotspot is a part you can zoom into.
0:35Click the Combustion Chamber hotspot to zoom into the next layer. Now you're inside the combustion chamber. The short explanation tells you it mixes packed air with fuel and ignites it in a continuous, controlled explosion that powers the turbines.
0:51This layer has its own hotspots too. Let's go one level deeper into the Combustor Liner. A detail card pops up for the liner: a perforated nickel-alloy shell whose thousands of tiny cooling holes keep the metal from melting.
1:08To step back up, use the breadcrumb trail at the top. Click Inside Of A Jet Engine to return to the full view.
1:17Back at the top level. Down here is a box for asking questions, and the Select and ask button lets you point at a specific area first.
1:26Drag a box around the combustion chamber to tell Gemini exactly which part you mean.
1:32With the area highlighted, ask your question: why does this part get so hot? Gemini recognizes the combustion chamber and explains: fuel is continuously injected and ignited with high-pressure air from the compressor, releasing immense heat that spins the turbine.
1:53When you're finished exploring, click the close button to head back to the library. Back in the library, these tabs sort topics into broad groups: History, Nature, Space, How Things Work, and Human Body.
2:07Pick Space, and you'll see each card also carries a finer category label, like Spaceflight.
2:14And under Human Body, you'll find topics tagged Medicine, like the discovery of penicillin. One thing to know: the library only offers these ready-made topics for now, and you can't create your own custom explorations yet. And that's Immersive Explorations: open a topic, zoom into its parts layer by layer, step back with the breadcrumbs, and ask Gemini about any area you select.
