Tools for software tutorials, side by side

Tools for tutorials, how-to guides and product demos work in very different ways: some make written guides, some polish a recording you make, and some, like SayScreen, record for you. These pages put them side by side with facts from each vendor's own website, the date we checked, and a plain answer on when the other tool is the better pick.

How these comparisons are made

  • Facts come from each vendor's own website (pricing pages, feature pages, help centers), never from review sites. Every page lists its sources and the date we last checked them.
  • SayScreen is described only with what this site already says, from the plans on the pricing page to the features on the home page.
  • Each page says when the other tool is the better choice, because for many jobs it is: written guides, desktop software, many languages or a face on camera.
  • SayScreen isn't the only tool where AI does the recording. Clueso's Enterprise plan includes browser agents that log into a demo account and record for you, and newer tools work this way too: Demosmith (a browser agent that opens your product in a cloud browser, signs in and clicks through the flow while it records), Bingeable (an AI agent that opens your app in a cloud browser, clicks through the workflow and narrates every step) and Tella (Auto Capture, in beta on paid plans, which opens a web page in its own browser, plans a walkthrough and films it). The guide to the best AI demo video generators compares them all.
