Comparison

SayScreen vs Scribe

These tools answer “how do I…?” in different formats. Scribe captures a process as you click through it and produces a written guide with screenshots that people can skim, search and print. SayScreen produces a narrated, edited video of a web app, and its AI does the clicking. If your team runs on written SOPs, choose Scribe; if you need video, choose SayScreen. Or use both: a guide to skim and a video to watch.

Where Scribe and SayScreen differ

A document or a video

Scribe's output is a document: steps with screenshots and AI-written text, exported to PDF, HTML or Markdown on Pro. It can also play a guide as a “Movie” with an AI voiceover, from a share link or embed. SayScreen's output is a video: an MP4 with natural narration, camera moves and captions, plus an .srt file.

How the steps get captured

Scribe records what you do (you click through with its extension or desktop app), and Autocapture can build guides from work as it happens in apps an admin approves. SayScreen does the clicking itself, in a real Chrome browser, from a one-line description of the lesson.

What each can capture

Scribe's free Basic plan captures in the browser; Pro adds desktop and mobile apps. SayScreen works with web apps that run in Chrome, including pages behind a login with single sign-on and 2-step codes.

Pricing

Scribe Basic is free. Pro Personal is $35 per seat a month ($25 billed yearly), and Pro Team is $17 per seat ($13 billed yearly) from five seats. SayScreen is $1 for your first 7 days, then $29 a month for 30 videos, up to 10 minutes each.
