SayScreen

Comparison

SayScreen vs Tella

Tella is a screen and camera recorder with a polished editor, built for people who present their own demos: you talk, it handles layouts, zooms, captions and cuts, and the Tella Agent edits on request. Its Auto Capture (in beta) can even film a web page for you, but Tella doesn't generate narration. SayScreen makes the whole tutorial from a short prompt: the AI clicks through your web app, writes and voices the narration and edits it. Choose Tella if you want your face and voice in the video; choose SayScreen if you want neither.

Tella or SayScreen: which should you choose?

Choose Tella if…

  • You want your camera and your own voice in the video, with screen and camera layouts
  • You share by link: embeds, password protection and viewer analytics are built in
  • You record desktop apps or anything on your screen, not only web apps
  • You want to edit with an AI agent in chat, or from Claude, ChatGPT or Cursor through its MCP server

Choose SayScreen if…

  • You don't want to narrate: the AI writes the script and reads it in a stock or cloned voice
  • You want the recording done for you every time, not only for web pages in a beta feature
  • You want to rewrite a line and have it re-voiced and re-timed without recording again
  • You'd rather pay for finished minutes of video than per user

Where Tella and SayScreen differ

Who records

With Tella you record with its Mac or Windows app, Chrome extension or web recorder. Its Auto Capture, in beta on paid plans, has an AI agent film a public web page (or a signed-in one with a saved login) with an animated cursor. SayScreen's AI always does the recording: it signs in on your app's own sign-in page, decides where to click from your description and records each step.

Voice

Tella records your voice with the screen and has a teleprompter; it says it doesn't generate AI narration, clone voices or dub audio. SayScreen writes the narration from what happens on screen and voices it, in a stock AI voice or your own cloned voice.

Sharing

Tella shares links and embeds with password protection and viewer analytics, and exports up to 4K. SayScreen gives you an MP4 at 1080p and 60 fps plus an .srt caption file to host wherever you like; there are no share links or analytics.

Pricing

Tella has no free plan: a 7-day free trial of Pro, then Pro at $26 per user a month ($13 billed yearly) or Premium at $39 ($19 billed yearly), with AI features on credits. SayScreen is $1 for your first 7 days, then $49 a month for 60 minutes of video, up to 8 minutes each.
